Jake Gyllenhaal is fug. He's too....schmoopy. I'll get behind Patrick Dempsey, if you know what I mean. And I think that you do.
There's something about George Clooney's pallor that repulses me. He looks unhealthy and his skin has a greyish cast to it, and he always has circles under his eyes. Plus he has very unsensual lips.
Robert DeNiro's Green Berets? Mel Gibson's rogue militia?
ico: my main beef with Dempsey is that he was in that ridiculous piece-of-shit teen movie Loverboy (about the pizza boy) and yet somehow we're supposed to take him seriously now. Truth be told, the whole show Grey's Anatomy bugs me.
Why does that not surprise me? I saw it once, last week, for about 10 minutes. It seemed like a typical hospital drama, but with cute guys for a change.
Um, Loverboy is a classic for the ages. What the hell is the matter with you? His portrayal of a high school nerd who blackmails the school hottie into dating him is sheer genius.

I dunno. Everybody on the show is so damned 'interesting,' and their lives are so 'deep' and 'meaningful,' and 'important.' Nobody's lives are really like that, and if they were, I wouldn't want to drink with them.
And you're thinking of can't Buy me Love. Loverboy is the one where he plays the pizza boy who screws all the guy's lonely wives. He has huge schnozzola in that flick that makes the whole premise implausible.
I actually have a grudge against the entire teen-sex-romp genre. I somehow managed to graduate from high school with my virginity intact. I was very pissed that all those movies lied to me.
Pretty pirates are much nicer to look at than not-pretty pirates.
Then why are they casting Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow's dad in the sequel? Keith, now there's a man I'd buy as a pirate.
And pretty looks good on women, but not so much on men. (yeah, I'll fully admit that's probably socially construsted and sexist somehat, but I stand by it anyway).
I agree that George Clooney is unattractive. He's too plain-looking, boring. In fact, most of People's "sexiest men" aren't remotely attractive to me. Maybe I just don't get Hollywood.
The only guys I find attractive in that list are George, Jake, Taye and (kinda/sorta) Brad. George's attractiveness isn't so much his face, although it is quite nice, it's his attitude and humour. Brad is okay for white bread. If I described my "ideal guy" you'd think Patrick Dempsey would be one of them but for some reason he just isn't. *shrug*
Oh, and George is 5'11" per IMDb. I wouldn't call that short (I'm 5'4").
And this weekend I saw a couple mini-Jack Sparrow's out shopping. One was a Legos version and I can't remember what the other one was. I almost bought one, but remembered I'm trying to get rid of stuff like that.
Note to self: watch Ocean's 11 and 12. Again. Soon.

I'm 5'3", so he'd still be a good bit taller than me. But I've spent the last decade with a man who's 6'7", so my perspective is seriously skewed. I like my men Lurch-like.
Essexjan, thank you for that pirate pic! Any idea where I could get a wallet sized copy?.....Yum!
I think George Clooney is hot, Brad Pitt is good looking, Jude Law is meh. And as for Johnny Depp is hot only as Jack Sparrow, otherwise he looks too fragile for me. I also think Dave Navarro has the sexiest face (I want to bite those lips), but his frame is too small for me. I like bigger guys.
