Techie Question About Downloads.... [More:]Miko's computer isn't letting me download .exe files (things like Slsk, LastFM, stuff like dat), and I don't know why - is this a firewall issue?

I keep getting "Can't write to C:blahblahblah " error messages when I start the install wizard.

Your hep is greatly appreciated, oh Hivous One.
downloading or installing? which are you having trouble with?

Related question: Are .exe files only for windows computers and are unreadable by Macs?

Mac OS X has no ability to read/exicute .exe files. You can use .exe files on an Intel Mac if you have Windows installed, or if you use a virual machine to run Windows.

I download the install desktop shortcut thing, but then when I fire it up, no can do. So it's an install problem.

hmmm. does it say something about needing to be an administrator to do this? if so, then you are logged in as a normal user. you will have to log in as administrator to install software. if all you are getting is an unable to write to c: message, that sounds like it could be a problem - drive getting ready to fail, something flagged as read-only that probably shouldn't be, something along those lines. probably not a firewall issue since you were able to download and save the file.
