Dang! Well, my new old camera that I was so excited about getting at the swap meet seems to have an intermittent conjipulation of the frimfram, so I'll have to take it in to CameraTechs this weekend to figure out if it's broken or if I'm just missing something crucial in figuring out its 1970s engineering. 'Tis more than a wee bit disappointing.
I love that! A conjipulation of the frimfram! I hope that you can get it fixed right away. That's frustrating.

How does the intermittent conjipulation of the frimfram manifest itself? What kind of camera is it? It may be possible to hope you to fix it with the power of collective lapine thought. (Maybe)

Things like tuning or cleaning the film transport, shutters, lens actuators should generally be left to pros, and I say this as a fairly accomplished fiddler of microtronic geegaws, frabjulators and cromemutrons.

However, cheaply obtained second-hand cameras and whatnot are a fine way to learn and experiment on said elaborations. As long as you don't mind the likely probablity of utterly wrecking the thing, or giving up and having to take it to a pro to preserve it and whatnot if it's that sort of object.

It's a Mamiya C330. The problem appears to be between the film winder and the part that the film winder tells to advance the frame counter and tells it to allow the shutter button (picture taking button) to be pressed. Therefore it is impossible to take a picture unless multiple exposure is turned on. I spent $300 on it so I wouldn't call it "cheaply obtained", but considering I got [est] $600 worth of gear for $300, I still wouldn't be averse to paying CameraTechs (the known champeen professionals in the area) to take a look at it.

Sounds like it could be fairly easy to fix once it's disassembled. You're likely to come out ahead money-wise, so why not?

120 is still great! Besides the (dwindling) Kodak offerings, Fuji makes lots of different emulsions and you can even get infrared from Rollei (they're supposed to come out with ortho, too). I just picked up a 6x7 back for my Speed Graphic that I can't wait to try out.
