Burn a quiet song louder? Related to this question, how can I burn a "quiet" song on a CD so it plays more loudly? You know, a song that burns on a CD and plays more quietly than all the rest... Is there a program that has an equalizer for individual song recording levels? Does it annoy you when you get a mix CD and you have to crank the volume for one or two tunes? It definitely takes the fun out of chilling out half-asleep through the whole disc.
In iTunes, you can set song volumes individually. I know everyone hates iTunes but I like it just fine and you can even set equalizer settings, start times, stop times and more. Handy for songs that have annoying lead-ins or go on forever.

Oh yeah, right click the song, select options and you should be able to figure it out from there.

If you're working from MP3s then MP3Gain works pretty well.

Thanks, folks.

I tried the equalizer on iTunes once (my job gave me an iPod), but it was limited as to how much I could pump up a REALLY quiet tune. Maybe I need to download the latest iTunes, though... and the tune I was trying to volumize was REALLY quiet. Why are old jazz tunes always like that?

I'll check out MP3Gain too.

T'anks!

I find it happens most on older Columbia records ceedee issues (the ones with the blocky red lettering) and on smaller label releases (a bunch of my blues ceedees have this problem). I'm glad to know ayeTunes can fix this; now I can go back to throwing Tom Petty and Jimmy Lee Williams on my mixes. Soon the world will be mine, all mine, as far as the eye can see.

All I want is the "Mad World" cover off the Donnie Darko Soundtrack. || I swear this shit will strip paint ...
