Cars that do not belong in the fast lane: (Inspired by Ortho's recent post) [More:]
Volvo 240DL *
Geo (any)
Toyota Tercel
Chevy Corvette**
Peugeot 505
Mercedes diesel sedans <1990
VW Fox
Anything with the driver on the phone

What's on your list of rolling roadblocks?

* Chevy V8 conversions excepted
** Corvettes are capable, the problem is the driver

most people in Priuses.

Anything with a lift kit and oversized mud tires. Contrary to the driver's expectations, vehicles with these modifications should NOT be driven like a Porsche.

The Prius will hit 110 and does 0 to 60 in a perfectly respectable 11 seconds. No one's ever had to flash their lights at me.

The Ford equivalent Geo.... The Aspire:

I drove one for 10 years before selling it last year and actually, it wasn't *that* bad.

In fact, it's been a long since I looked at one.... and I kind of miss the little guy.

I owned a red Ford Festiva for nine years, but she did okay on the highway and on ramp.

As long as she didn't have more than one passenger.

Yeah, the Aspire was just a reskinned Festiva.

I note by the time most Corvette drivers have the scratch to afford one, and the midlife crisis to motivate the purchase, their nagging wives have castrated them to the point where speeding is impossible. That, and the fact that it's a LEO-magnet.

Hey, back off of my (long departed and well loved) Geo Storm! I got one ticket for speeding and got stopped for another one (cop got called away to something else). *grumble grumble*

I've been in a 91 Sentra doing over 125 on an empty freeway. Or something thereabouts. The speedo was pinned.

Goddamn scariest moment of my life. Scarier than mountainboarding on plain old skateboards. Scarier than riding down Mulholland Drive on a bike - on a Sunday. Scarier than bodysurfing the Wedge in Newport Beach in 20+ foot hurricane swells.

Damn lego brick of a car was shimmying like a troop of parachuting Elvisii. I thought we were going to go airborne. I thought I was going to die.

Conversely I've been in an expertly-piloted BMW M5 doing bursts over 100 MPH in 30 MPH stop and go deep, dark LA traffic. Look, I pretty much hate cars but that was fucking cool. Probably the closest I'll ever get to doing the Death Star run.

My Volvo V70 Turbo wagon hauls ass on the freeway. So there!

Hate to say it, Triode, but all of you in cars and trucks are too damned slow. Heck, most of the other guys on motorcycles are too slow, especially the Harley humpers. But its okay, that's what the lane between the lanes is for.

But I'll say that the oversized SUVs are the pretty bad. But the worst jackasses on the road seem to be the guys in white pickup trucks. They have a tendency to use their trucks to try and block me on my way through. More often than any other vehicles, it seems. Though my sister, a psychologist, says that may be because white trucks are easier to remember than other colors or something.

I have a Sentra (I'm sorry) that gets to freeway speed a-ok (which, here in texas, can be anything between 45 and 95), but loq is right - it's all over the freakin road.

Hondas, now, are a bitch at acceleration, but are smooth as butter over 100 mph...

Great to see the Corvette mentioned! I've only once in my life seen a Corvette speeding.
