My wrist hurts. What kind of doctor should I see? I have a PCP, but his office is really ghetto and I'm sure he'd just refer me to someone else. What sort of specialist would be able to diagnose in one visit why my wrist has been hurting for 6+ months?

hahahaha!

Do you think it's a repetitive motion kind of thing? Like Carpal Tunnel? (which is rarely diagnosed anymore, btw)

Does your wrist hurt all the time, or during certain activities?

Chiropractor. Find one that is certified in ART.

As for what causes it, I have no idea.

You might have to do xrays, yrays and whatever else doctors do these days. So maybe one visit is not enough. You should be able to get a referral to a specialist (orthopedic is one option although more could be involved) within a day. I would demand as much from my PCP.

Here in NY I vow by the health centers (like this one) where you can drop in (no insurance needed, small fee though) and you will find the answers to your problem. However, it might take you a few hours as these places tend to be crowded.

Hope you feel better soon, dear.

Have you ever tried acupuncture? I can email you the name of the woman I see if you'd like.

Take this wrist pain diagnosis tool. Is your wrist swollen or tender or inflamed?

I actually don't need a referral; I can see any specialist I want without one.

Ah ha, sounds like wrist tendonitis.

I know a rheumatologist can diagnose and treat tendonitis, TPS. Probably a doctor that specializes in sports medicine can too.
