OMG Nellie McKay! This is why I love Wikipedia.

As a fan of the singer and an editor of her article, I had seen this namesake of hers on search engines and I was, of course, aware of the
Norton Anthology of African-American Literature for itself. I had no idea that Nellie
Y. McKay was well-deserving of her own article until somebody mistakenly put something into the singer's article about the Dictionary of African-American Biography, and I quickly put together a "stub" article. And was intrigued enough to keep digging. And digging. And digging.
What a fascinating woman (how many academics would turn down Harvard?!).
The most incredible part is that her entire career began in mid-life. She didn't graduate from college until she was 39.
Still working on confirmation for that.
Not that turning 43 next month has anything to do with my attitude. Nossiree.
