There were a bunch of new fried foods at the fair this year, although I didn't actually eat any of them. I wanted to try to fried macaroni and cheese but never got around to it. Let me see if I can find my fair booklet, it has a rundown on the new stuff.

Oh, man, deep fried mac 'n' cheese is ridiculously delicious. Deeply dangerous to your health, no doubt, but one of the best late-night drinkin' foods ever. Especially when served with a side of ranch for dippin' purposes....

I am both intrigued and repulsed.

Well, I can't find the booklet anywhere but the info is online anyway. I don't remember the "choco-rito" being there but everything else was. How about the deep fried cosmopolitan - "A fried pastry filled with cheesecake and topped with a cranberry glaze and a lime wedge. Served on a stick." It's the stick that really makes it.

Me, I just had a couple corny dogs and some fries.

Some year, I'm going to make mad bank at the state fair selling deep fried White Castles.

You heard it here first.

I had a friend once deep fry a bacon cheese burger. It was beef mixed with spicy Italian pork sausage and onions. Two patties with cheddar sandwiched between, and the edges wrapped in thick-cut pepper bacon. He breaded and fried it in his deep-fat fryer.

I didn't taste it, but ate part of one of the (unfried) burgers, which was pretty good.

Just make sure you take it out of the can before putting it into the fryer.

Listen -- Coca-Cola is never bad in any form. Coke is a perfect concoction. Like many of my southern-flavored ilk, I have sampled Coke as the main flavoring ingredient for cake; in cake frosting; as ham and pork-chop glaze; blended with soy in dipping sauce; as a marinade for chicken; as candy; as Slurpee; and in traditional ice-cold drinking form. I expect this to be of the same consistently high taste quality.
