What Would YOU Name Your Radio Program If'n You Had One? [More:]That's exactly the dilemma LT is facing about starting his show! Help him, Bunniehaids, help him come up with a kick-ass moniker for his show! So far all I have is:

Portsmouth, Bloody Portsmouth
Rock and Rot with LT
Bunnyhead Radio

Have at it, connoisseurs of fine FM! And keep your internet marked at wsca.fm for future updates!

(Chances are I'll snag a weekend slot around lunchtime or possibly an overnight show..)
I'm not sure about a show, but if I owned a station, I'd call it KLOL.

Cracked Actor Radio

I like the old-timey ones, like the King Biscuit Flour Hour. And, you know, those others that I can't think of right now.

I did have one.
I called it Eclectic Electric.

It wasn't very good.

I used to do a 2 hour Sunday morning jazz show, on a mixed format Class B FM station in Pulaski, TN that I called The Unsquare Keys.

Well, I wasn't as hip then, as I am now. And whatever you call it, later, it won't seem like such a cool name, either.

What, you don't like 'Music Box'?

Good To Your Earhole
{G Clinton, G Cook, C Haskins}

I'm going to give you what you're here for I've got the means to take you there
I'm not here to kill you softly
But I promise to be good to your earhole

Put your hands together, come on and stomp your feet
" " Lord!
Put your hands together, come on and get in beat
There's a good time waiting for you, come on and let's get free

Mashing your brain like silly putty
Leaving you in a better frame of mind
Drowning out the voices that bug you
But I promise to be good to your earhole

Put your hands together, come on and stomp your feet
" " Lord!
Put your hands together, come on and get in beat
There's a good time waiting for you, come on and let's get free

Okay, of the suggestions made, I like Cracked Actor Radio the best.

I am not sure I have any other suggestions, but some of the best at our local community and campus radio currently include:
-One Gus Radio
-Monster a Go-Go
-Village of the Darned
-Hot Bunny Radio (seriously, I'm not kidding)

A friend of mine used to do a great open punk show called Victor's One and Only. I have no idea why it was called that, but I always thought it was great. Maybe some of these might help the wheels turn?

Well, I use Radio_Replica when I broadcast here, which is close enough, I guess. I've always liked "Aural Tentacles", which is the name of a radio show on CiTR (UBC, Vancouver) which had been running since... oh, the early-to-mid-80's. Also "Blood on the Saddle", again from CiTR - an all-encompassing roots/country/cowpunk/thing which has been running for an equal length of time.

Also, as a shameless self-promo, I'm editing 13 hours of tunes for my 2nd Halloween set coming soon, if anyone's interested. s_r - i'll email ya before i 'cast it.

I had one back in the 80s. It was a midnight to 6 slot and horribly titled Approaching Oblivion.

Haven't listened to the radio since.

One acquaintance of mine has a show called Rural War Room Radio, and another has The Sound Salvation Radio Show. What do these names have in common? They're long, and they're, y'know, metrical, and internally rhythmic. Like a radio show, right? And like The King Biscuit Flour Hour and, uh, The Grand Ole Opry, and, er, A Prairie Home Companion?

I have a set of my 250 favorite songs* ready to go. I just gotta zip it up and send it (and a list) to somebody without firewall issues.

*(note: I said 'favorites,' not best. there's a difference)

I had a show playing only new releases called "still steaming".

I had a show in college with a friend called "for your love" and it's still what I would call any radio show that I did. Well, that or "Ass, gas or grass, nobody rides for free."

jon - I'd broadcast for you, but 250 songs is a helluva set - my Ska playlist on my computer is 300 songs or so, and that's 15 hours which is too much on the upload, let alone expecting anyone to listen to it - and it'd monopolise MeCha Radio too heavily... pup's'd kill ya! ;) My 1st set was 71 songs @ 3h6m, average of 3 min a song. Edit your list so it's about 2-1/2 hours (maybe pick a theme?), let me know and send it to me (YSI? SendUIt?) and I'll 'cast it for you. My email's in profile.
posted by Zack_Replica 24 October | 23:45
Oh, BTW, when I said 13 hours, it's 13 hours of stuff I'd like to 'cast, but I'll get it down to about 3h or so, once I find what works when.
posted by Zack_Replica 24 October | 23:48
I could break it into segments.
posted by jonmc 25 October | 08:22
Back when I had one -- on KAOS, the best-named station ever -- it was called A Moment of Silence. Eh.
posted by The corpse in the library 25 October | 11:24
jon - yip, segments. Also remember the broadcasting rules. No more than 3 songs by the same artist from the same album in the same set. No bootlegs. No posting about songs before they're played ("...you can't tell people WHEN a particular song will be playing..."). Also, your ID3 tags have to be complete.
