No help here, but this is finally my opportunity to mention that I've occasionally been visited by a phantom scroll bar on the Recent Comments page. It's like there's an empty frame on the far right, bordered by my browser's real scrollbar. But just to the right of the comments, there's a second, non-functional scrollbar that doesn't do anything and shouldn't be there. Dunno if they're related.

Occhi, I'd suggest you reboot, but that's all the help I can give you.

Oh, and sometimes the new comment indicators disappear after I refresh the page, whether I've read all the threads or not.

I had the same phantom scrollbar problem yesterday, on Firefox. That was odd.

And I don't mind this being a dumping ground for tech issues. I figure mine's one of those "Microsoft product's being weird for no reason; reboot" things, but I thought I'd toss it out there in case there was something I wasn't thinking of.

Oh, though I did mention it here because right now, it's a MeCha-only problem. Those keys are working fine in other IE windows.

Ah ha. I seem to have discovered the problem. If I click the cursor on any text, then the Page Up etc keys don't work. If I click it to the side of the comments, then the keys do work. I assume this is some weird MeCha design issue, but since I found a workaround, I'm ok with shutting up about it now. :-)

I think that for the Page Up/Down keys to work, period, you have to sort of "activate" the window.

For instance, if I click on the title bar in Firefox (up where it says "Metachat - Mecha Tech Help...") and then do Page Up, nothing happens. But if I click anywhere in the white portion of the comments page, Page Up works. And if my cursor is right here in the comment box, Page Up takes me to the top of the comment I'm typing.

So, occhiblu, you just weren't browing properly. Get it right next time.

Hee. No, I know that. It's just that the comments part of this page, on IE at least, seems not to be an "active" part of the page.

Given that they're the main parts of this page, that seems weird.

I haven't seen the "there are x new messages" thingie since I've been back.

Is someone admin-y playing with this? Now when I try Page Up or Page Down on taz's 100-plus comment thread, it goes severely whacky.

Aaaaaaaaand that thread's getting the phantom scrollbar now.
