MeCha Survey: Are you a picker and a squeezer, or do you leave it well alone to heal itself?→[More:]Me, I just cannot let it be.
Squeezist. Until I started taking antibiotics last month to make all the spots go away. (Not sure why I waited until I was 29 to sort out my teenage skin, but hey ho.)
jack_mo: several women I've dated have described my acne scars as 'sexy.' I'd be the last person to try to second guess the feminine mind, but something to think about before going in for the smoothing and buffing.
Loooove the squeezing. I got a professional facial a month or two ago, and they put this chemical on your face that opens your pores, and then they squeeze everything out, and it hurt so bad I nearly cried, but it was awesome at the same time.
Not only am I a squeezer, I gave my teenage son a tutorial on the proper method of zit destruction. With a responsible caveat, of course, about how this was really a bad idea and he should never do it, but, you know, if he did. . .
Biore strips changed my life. Well, at least they vastly reduced the number of blackheads/zits that spontaneously form in the oily creases of my nose, immediately around my nostrils.
See? this is one good thing that comes with age (I believe the *only* good thing): less zits. In fact nowadays when I get one (once a year) I leave it alone. Better yet: I show it off. I call it: "my acne"! But back in the good ol' days when I used to get them often, well, I was a leaver then too.
As for them blackheads, those I squeeze, vehemently.
Squeezer. As a kid tho', I'd squeeze until they were a bloody mess. Usually around school photo time, of course. Now, I just get rid of the white-head part and leave them alone. Once I've done that you can't tell there was a pimple there. I don't get black-heads.
I tried the Biore strips for a while but they didn't do much for me except irritate my skin.
And yeah, what's up with zits at almost forty?! They really clash with all my silver hair.
