That was me, arsey... I pulled a post that was about a disagreement in #bunnies because I want the people involved to work it out between them instead of here.
I don't think there's anything weird or creepy about a disappearing post. I have no idea what this is about, and I admit that I am dying to know, but there's no reason that seanyboy and taz are required to give us a public space to use as a vent forum so that we can bitch at each other or whatever you want to call it. See, this is exactly why they disbanded the IRC channel that was called #MetaChat, because stuff was spilling over from there to here. And then some people start arguing on another IRC channel that taz and seanyboy have nothing to do with, and you think that the argument should be allowed to continue here? Why?
Metachat doesn't exactly have a high bar for what constitutes a quality post. So why did this one deserve deletion and the rest don't? Our little Mayberry doesn't need this Disneyland level of maintenance.
IRC conflicts are completely opaque to metachat users... It's a he-said/she-said situation and there's really no point in pursuing it here. The only people who actually know anything about it are the people involved, so they need to use email or go back to the channel to hash it out.
Posting an irc dispute here is like you and your two roommates coming to metachat to argue about who hasn't paid their share of the rent, and who never washes the dishes.
I think I've deleted two posts in the last year. I'm sorry you're unhappy, but please don't start with the snide sniping. I'm not icky, creepy, or Walt Disney. If you are angry, it's probably not really at me - and one thing that is never going to happen here is for me or seanyboy or any of the mods to become punching bags for other people's generalized frustration and aggression. Ain't gonna happen.
You didn't miss much, quonsar. dios showed up drunk, and started needling orthogonality about why ortho didn't like dios. mudpuppie asked them both to cut it out, at which point dios told a few mild off-color jokes. mudpuppie then kicked both from the channel, and dios posted here asking why.
For what it's worth, I throw my 97-pound-weakling strength behind iconomy and taz. While there are certainly a lot of overlapping circles, #bunnies is not part of MetaChat and dramas in there should stay away from MeCha.
Anyone who talks about over-moderating and lack of transparency has no idea of how things work around here.
