Why should I join the straying mass who want to make everything angular? That sexy-ass DSLR with external displays, ergonomic controls and round contours? It was designed -- for the most part -- more than 20 years ago by Luigi Colani, the industrial designer and "form philosopher" who created, among many other things, the Canon T90 (18 MB pdf file of the manual is here). Princeton Architectural Press, God bless them, has paid homage to the man's work.
I've loved Colani's work ever since I read an article about him ten years ago. Thank you for this post.

Yeah, I read an article about him I think in Metropolis magazine. Very interesting. There was a time when I wanted to get into industrial design mainly because of folks like Colani. Thanks for the reminder matteo.

Neato mudpuppie! I had a subscription for like 10 or 12 years. I bet I read some of your writing then. I really should subscribe again, I really enjoyed that mag.

See also: the Colani Corvette, Colani L'Aiglon (on the sadly defunct blog of someone who apparently didn't like his car designs), and also, for one design that didn't work at all, the Eifelland 21 Formula 1 car.
