So I broke my CBGB's cherry last night. And the Bad Brains still shred.→[More:]Funniest thing overheard: Door guy: "Hey is it okay if we let this guy out (no re-entry) to puke?"
Ticket guy: "He can leave if he wants."
Dunno. I saw them awhile ago at that GarageFest thing and they were great. I guess I'll play it by ear. Do you know when they go on sale at the box office?
Also, I bet people will try and take a piece of that awning home with them. It's strange to see preppy girls posing and taking pics in front of it.
They sounded fucking great too. HR is a bit erratic (and pretty much out of his Rasta mind), but the band is still full-on awesome. I can't say enough about Dr. Know's guitar shredding and Daryl's punchy basslines. Once they got the first couple of numbers out of the way, warmed up and the sound guy made his adjustments, it was like *wow*.
I understand why that place stuck around as long as it did - its got great sound and is a pretty special place to hear a band.
I didn't notice any homophobic remarks, but I stopped listening to HR's retarded in-between-song banter. He seems pretty certifiably insane.
Bad Brains should have been huge. Huge. Sometimes I wonder why and then I remember HR and the ego that is. That said, I'm sure there were other factors.
I kinda wish I'd known (or remembered actually) about the gay remarks, cuz when he started the "we are all one" kinda stuff, it would've been an easy heckle to say "except gay people, right?" Then again, getting in an argument with HR would seem pretty futile.
on preview - I'd wish you'd been there too, omiewise. We could've harmonized on the backup chants.
