This is Good. Russian folk art versions of popular films (at least I think they are all films). Help me figure out what they are. I see The Matrix, Spiderman, Harry Potter, LOTR... what are the rest? Via the magnificent dinrao at Vox (our dhruva).
Now that you mention it, I realize I've never, ever written or typed out that name before... in my whole entire life! And I'm certainly not starting now.
#1 is Cheburashka, a popular Russian children's book/cartoon character.
#2 is the Terminator (or Arnoid).
#3 is Matrix.
#4 is LOTR.
#5 is Gena, Cheburashka's crocodile friend (with Crocodile Dundee, I presume)
#6 is Spiderman.
#7 is obviously Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca.
#8 is Harry Potter.
#9 is... well, I've no idea who this could be.
#10 - no idea
#11 could be 451 Fahrenheit.
#12 - no idea
#13 is War of the Worlds.
On preview, the AskMe has most of the answers. Late again.
Cheburashka is begging Gena for some money to go to the movies. Gena doesn't want to give him any, because he knows that movies always have a big influence on Cheburashka who takes everything into heart, but finally gives in and lets him go.
Some hours pass. Gena is sitting in his comfy chair and enjoying a quiet night reading a book, when suddenly someone starts banging at the door. "Who is this?" Gena shouts. The door crashes open and Cheburashka, armed to the teeth, steps in: "It is I, the Cheburator!"
