29 September 2006

I first read this book (the same e-text version, in fact) about four years ago when I was fascinated with combinatorics and game theory (this was sort of related to my being addicted to a game of the roguelike genre) but then lost interest in the subject and forgot about Llull. Something reminded me of him today and I suddenly remembered having once read this strange mystical text. I remember playing a little game of trying to find the passage for someone's birthday. I've always liked the one for mine:

"- Tell me, crazy one: why do you excuse the guilty?
He answered:
- Not to be like those who accuse the innocent and the guilty."

I liked that site very much, thanks. It reminds me of the story of Phaedrus by Socrates, which poses the question is it better to be the lover or the beloved.

This is very cool! But there seems to be nothing for Sept. 29.

Considering that there should be (at least) one passage for each day, about a hundred seem to be missing.

The lover agreed with his beloved, and said that danger in misfortune comes from impatience, and danger in prosperity comes from mindlessness.

I like that. I try every day to remember to remember the people and animals I should...
