I love that the "noteworthy examples" include fictional characters.

Idealists number Blanche DuBois, Emma Bovary, Hamlet, Siddhartha, and Mr. Spock.

Rationalists claim Arthur Fonzarelli, Don Vito Corleone, Harry Potter, Jay Gatsby (as well as his author), and Tom Sawyer. Absolutely no fictional rationalist women, eh? I protest.

Traditionalists include Alice, Don Quixote, Melanie Hamilton Wilkes and Scarlett O'Hara (ah - those southern girls!), and Sophie Portnoy. Gee, lots of goils here.

Hedonists are fewer(why?) - and again no women: Alexander Portnoy, Don Juan, and James Bond.

See, and if they'd only had a question that said "if your scores from this test were only prime numbers, would that kinda creep you out?" I would have said "definitely" and gotten one less point for rationalism.

But I think it's a little skewed, since I have taken seven or eight Myers-Briggs-derived personality tests over the last couple weeks, so I'm probably more tuned into the buzzwords than their meanings at this point. ("Where's that self-actualizing harmonizing peace-maker box.... ah right, check.")

Occhiblu- I agree. I checked off a few that I KNEW meant something other than what I was I reading them to mean.

s_r, they're Kiersey's four temperment types.

Sensing Judging: The "Guardians." Rely on hard information gathered by their senses rather than intuitive "gut feelings," and find it easy to make decisions. Value responsibility and membership or belonging.

Sensing Perceiving: The "Artisans." Like to perceive the possibilities in a situation rather than coming to a definite decision. Good with physical things they can manipulate with their hands, gadgets and paint and such. Value freedom.

Intuitive Thinking: The "Rationals." Rely on logic to think through complex problems. Value knowledge and mastery of ideas and processes.

Intuitive Feeling: The "Idealists." Use intuition or gut feelings to read people. Value self-actualization and personal growth for themselves and others.

(Sorry, I had some handouts in front me. We really have been doing this stuff in class for weeks!)
