I know flower pictures are cliche, but I like this one from today's hike.
That's extremely cool... I've always liked those little purple flowers, and if they're the ones I'm thinking of, they're a LOT smaller than they look in your pic. (Are they about the size of a nickel?) I also like the false "horizon" behind them that makes it look like they're on a little planet a their own.

I never thought I'd be a flower photographer, either, but I find I can't resist 'em. I'm thrilled with this recent pic of a hibiscus we keep on our deck... I never seek out pics of domestic flowers liek this, but I can't help taking them when the moment presents itself.

Wildflowers, though, are always intriguing. Keep it up! :)

I'm gonna take a flyer and guess that those are asters.

Thanks BoringPostcards. Yeah those are the teeny flowers about a nickel in size (maybe a quarter). The macro on my camera works quite well. I imagine they could be a type of wild aster as Miko says, I'll have to ask the botonist in my family. What I am proud of especially with this picture is I didn't crop it at all, and I was trying for that layered focus look with the large lichened rock providing a background. The composition came out better than I could have hoped. I just adjusted the color/brightness a bit, and added a little sharpness. I need to start doing more manual operations with the camera to learn that.

Nice hibiscus by the way. I wish I could grow those tropical ones out here....

I think they might be Swan River Daisies. Here's a Flickr photo, and here's a page with photo and description.

They look like some type of wild aster. There are quite a few. I have two kinda native to Arkansas that I can't even tell apart myself and three other native US asters, all of which are about the same color/size/shape. Google "smooth aster" or "new england aster" for a couple examples.
