Hope me, bunnies! I need some bunny love and advice.[More:]But first, HI! I know I've been gone for a spell, I haven't had internet or a computer for a coupla weeks, and I've been working crazy amounts. I miss y'all, though!

Okee, question time. I actually think I saw an axeme about this at some point, so if you know where it is, that would work too.

I need to find a way to pick up some extra cash. Currently I'm working 45 - 50 hours in a normal work week, often more (staying late or coming in on weekends for events). I am getting paid no money practically (I'm salary and do not get overtime for extra hours worked). The crap part is that this job is a really invaluable opportunity (boss knows this, hence the shitty pay).

I need to make some extra cash, because I can't afford to eat food right now almost. I get home usually around 7:30 - 8:00 pm and go to bed by 11 or 12. Other than weekends, that's my only free time. Any ideas for part time work with a very limited amount of time available to work?

Who knows anything about setting up a meth lab?
I can't find the axme thread, I'll keep trying, but I remember that my reply in it was to see if your local paper hires people to work a few hours a night inserting those annoying sale papers before the paper is delivered. Also, would delivering the paper work in your schedule?

Ruuning a meth lab is dangerous and morally questionable. Have you considered car theif?

Dang SassHat, I first read this as you wanting love advice...

I had a situation 12 years ago when I first moved out here from California. I was barely scraping by. I made a list of temp agencies, and the first one I went to said "can you work tomorrow"? Some of the work is sucky, like when I worked at a bindery for a week. It wasn't hard, just booooring. The second job they gave me ended up with me getting a lot of landscaping work on a cash basis. I could schedule it around my regular job. I dated someone once that worked for a temp agency, and they seriously hurt for people that are reliable and coherent. I don't know about work from home things, but JanetLand's suggestions are good.

I second eekacat. I am a temp, and my agency is always asking me if I know of anyone available. There's always chat hosting at Ifriends... Making sex is better than making drugs, IMHO.

Here's the deal with temping. I went through 3 different temp agencies while I was unemployed, and wasn't impressed with the volume of work opportunities coming in. Remember, I have a full time job. No temp agency is going to have work for me for thursday evening from 8pm until 10:30, or a Saturday. Those gigs tend to be the usual m-f 9-5 kinda stuff.

Can you do internet-based work while you're at your full-time job, or are you working constantly when you're there?

eBay would be an option, I suppose. Or can collecting & redemption. If you had better hours, I'd suggest finding a focus group company and getting on a panel -- they usually pay cash -- but in my experience most groups start earlier than you're available.

The temp agency I worked for got me weekend work, for whatever it's worth.

Hmmm. Sometimes veterinary hospitals or animal shelters need someone to come in and look after things on the weekends. You might also try small retail shops, or even fast food, to see if they might be interested in strickly weekend help.

*sigh* strictly.

I'm afraid I don't have any advice for you, but I send you lots of bunny love, my friend.

*hugs & whuffles the lovely SassHat*

When our kids were little, we needed extra cash, but didn't want to go the daycare route.

My wife ended up at a video store (yeah, that one). The advantage is she could work afternoons and evenings opposite my regular office job and the kids were always with mom or dad. Of course, I didn't see her much at that time. Because the store was open until midnight, she could get substantial hours in just working evenings.

In your case, it would be getting out of work, then going over to the video store, then going home and to bed. You'd be exhausted. But it's something to think about.

How about working as a valet? It's one of the few things you could do just on a weekend night and the cash is pretty decent.

Some temp agencies here in New York specialize in second shift/third shift/weekend work.

Maybe Toronto has one?

The easiest job to get that would work around your FT hours is retail -- computers, books, etc. The Christmas ramp-up is starting so places like department stores will be looking for people now.

With your hours I wouldn't add a job like bartender or waitressing, even though these are traditional second jobs available evenings. There are a LOT of fast-food places that are hurting for people, too, now that the school year has started, and they are open to non-traditional workers nowadays (not just teens and retirees). Since you're in TO there should be things in the tourist industry like hotel receptionist (they need those 24/7 and you WANT the sucky hours).

Supermarket shelf-fillers work evenings only and the pay is usually not too bad. Also, you don't need your brain much, so it can rest while your body does the work.
