Kiai! I've been invited to test for promotion to blue belt in karate. I'm both excited and nervous at the same time. The test is a week from Wednesday, and I really need to get to learnin' my Japanese terms because the instructions will be given in Japanese only. Suggestions for being less nervous leading up to and during the test?
The only thing that makes you less nervous for something is preparation.

Get studied up and you will worry less about walking in cold. You will also gain more confidence. You will also be more tired / over it when exam time comes.

Oh, and as a side note: you may also learn & retain stuff during your preparation :D

If you're testing for blue, you've obviously tested for previous belts. So you know the process, right?

Just do your best, but don't put so much pressure on yourself that you choke. Remember that even if you don't earn your blue this time, there will be an opportunity in the future. In short, it's important, but not *that* important in the grand scheme of things. Have fun with it.
