Dammit I just installed the "Yahoo Toolbar" in IE, somehow. Gross. How do I turn it off for good?
Two Words. . .Fire Fox

Otherwise, go to the add/delete programs (oh you have a mac I remember) but there has to be an add/delete place and you can delete the toolbar program there.

IE Menu Tools|Internet Options|Programs|Manage Add Ons

will let you disable but not actually delete the crap.

Can't go Firefox, danf; have to use IE for work (on my PC).

HURRAY orthogonality that fixed it.

Two words for you: Portable Firefox. Designed for a flash drive or similar, but you can also just dump it on the hard drive and create a shortcut. I can't rave about it enough.

You could try using IE tab, it opens IE inside a firefox tab for IE only sites. I use it for IE-only online games.

If you really want to uninstall it for good, you should be able to do it via Add/Remove Programs. If not, reactivate it, hit the "Edit" (pencil) menu, then hit "Remove Yahoo Toolbar".

Yahoo! is distributing their toolbar by packaging it with little shareware programs here and there. Chances are you installed something of some kind and didn't notice you were agreeing to the Y! bar at the same time. I think this is a scummy and pathetic way to distribute such a toolbar.
