Somebody bring out the Gimp.

Those are to keep them clean when they've been washed and they're on their way to a show.

I'm REALLY hoping their just "racing sheep." Not that I've ever heard of "racing sheep."
posted by shane 14 September | 07:35
Maybe to keep them warm post-shearing?
posted by sciurus 14 September | 07:37
Have they had their tails cut off?
posted by iconomy 14 September | 07:58
Yes, tail docking with sheep is pretty common, but not universal. Helps avoid shit and maggots in the wool.

My first thought was wet suit. Is there a triathalon for sheep?
posted by LunaticFringe 14 September | 08:25
bwaahaahaa! yes, anyone who's been a 4-H or FFA type knows those are scrimsheets. they're to keep them clean and keep the wool 'blocked' (don't ask) before a show.

but I like the wetsuit idea. truly I do.

My first thought on seeing the picture was that the farmer was taking his girlfriends, Baabaaraa and Mehhhry, to some kind of farmyard fetishwear show.

I've been amusing myself thinking of some guy trying to train a herd of sheep to do a triathalon. I haven't gotten the bike part worked out yet.

I like the way the outfit highlights their butt. Your eye goes right to it. Or was that just me?

Folsom Sheep Fair?

Link NSFW, and apologies that my first post here is just a sheep-ass pun.

ewe'll be fine, berlin.

Don't ever apologize for photos of assless chaps.

In fact, dressing sheep keeps the wool clean. It does not have to be washed so harshly after shearing, so the lanolin is kept in the wool, which makes it softer and more valuable.

Or so I recall from many years ago.

No. God help me.

So, Wolfdaddy, been studying the habits of sheep, eh?

On the internet, you know, even if you tell people you're a dog sometimes they don't believe it...

Racing sheep is what came to me as well.

*high fives shane*

I rather saw them as part of a choreographed water dancing team. Yes, sheep performing underwater ballet, can't you just see it?

Wolfdog, according to your name, do you eat sheep or protect them? ;^)
posted by redvixen 14 September | 18:13
OK, I'm a little conflicted there - maybe put them in a neat little circle and then eat them? - but who gives a damn about sheep anyway when you can be out chasin' foxies?
posted by Wolfdog 14 September | 18:32
Q: Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep, and can't tell where to find them.
A: Try the Pleasure Chest, Bo.
