Foto Phriday 8 September '06 "What's Wrong With This Picture," suggested by WolfDaddy, no PhotoShopping allowed: "...pictures that at first glance look 'ordinary' but something's subtly--or not--wrong..."
I dropped the ball! I should've been reminding you about this all week. Does this theme require preparation? Don't forget next week's Alice In Wonderland.
I didn't set this up or pose it and didn't notice the added creepy factor (beyond the fact that dolls are creepy anyway) until I loaded this onto my computer to upload it to flickr. I called it "not everyone was happy about the new baby".

iconomy, that pic gives me the heebie-jeebies... I love it. :)

I thought and thought trying to come up with something for this topic, and came up with nothing. I look forward to seeing what others post!

I like to call this one "Local Council hacks counter-cultural band advertising using counter-cultural jamming techniques."

BP, that is the coolest car I've seen in a while! Land Yacht!

Here's mine:

I took that while the fair was still being set up the other night. Mysterious and sad.

Oops, does this count as PhotoShopping? The real "what's wrong" with this picture is not the obvious. It's more of a botanical wrong.

I always liked the way the outstretched fist looked like it could have landed on Mr. Blair's face in this one (which is cropped but not otherwise 'shopped).

These are great! ico, wow! seanyboy, that's hilarious. grabbingsand, what's the story of the Hansel and Gretel pic? It's haunting.

I have "tons" (a whole file) of what we call "not nirmal" pics, mostly from site surveys for sign installations, but I took the day off. Maybe Foto Phriday should be open to post to throughout the week?

Anyway, I grabbed this from the (very strange yet compelling) Rock City site:

Okay, we have a giant gnome(which is a contradiction), a questionable elf, and Porky Pig in shabby clothes. Very not nirmal. And is that a ghostly apparition on the left side?

Also, I didn't get a picture, but I think I passed a crack house today, a very nice home and lawn but with a big "Wall Drugs" bumper sticker on the mailbox and one of those "Sorry, We're Closed" signs on the front door, the kind you get at a hardware store. Um... subtle but NOT.

Wow these are some great and interesting photographs!!!! Thanks everyone!

(simbiotic, when I saw yours my eyes nearly popped out of my head. Great shot ... but I'm not seeing the botanical wrongness. Clues, please, clues!!!)

Oops, I mean I have tons of "not nirmal" pics at work, where I am not today...

Not Normal. Yes, this is our old couch caught in the door because my
husband INSISTED on getting it our without removing both the regular and screen doors. Yes, that is a hammer in his hand. Yes, he did bring out a saw. Sigh.

I wish the I had known a little bit more about morning glory before I planted it along that wall in a place with a 12 month growing season. I might as well have planted kudzu.

Humiliation, the reason I should never go back and look my own posts.
