Step out of here, I said, with a stout heart and your bollocks in your boots and come again tomorrow, tell the missus to go chase apes in hell. There were delicate moments. . . Brats the offscourings of fornication and God Almighty a cheap scent in a jakes. . .

Maybe work on any of several projects, including but not limited to The Bike That Doesn't Stop As Well As I'd Like, The Truck With The Rattling Tailgate and The Secondhand Computer That's Got To Be Good For Something. Tomorrow : try not to isolate
Sunday : try not to isolate
Monday : back to work (our holiday was last Monday)
I need to recognise the distinction between solitude (good) and isolating (bad). I find it very, very difficult to mix with people and have to make a huge effort to go out. I'll probably go to an AA meeting tomorrow lunchtime, and watch the football on TV in the late afternoon.
I'm toying with the idea of getting my hair cut. I mean properly styled, instead of just trimmed. It has no shape. I may go to one of the local salons tomorrow and talk to them. I always feel I'm not worth spending the money on. "It's only me, why bother?"
Yes, at long last, one whole week of pure relaxation. Haven't had a real vacation in...well, over a year. Sailing trips were cool, but work-related and tiring; a wedding weekend in July was a quick escape, but busy. This is going to be a true vacation - a week at an overcrowded beach rental at a simple old-school beach town on the Jersey Shore with my family and friends o'the family. Activities to include:
Sleeping
Reading (what a finestack of books I have!)
Swimming
Playing of Hearts, Spades, harshly competitive Boggle, and if we feel ambitious, Canasta
Eating of sweet corn, Jersey tomatoes, boardwalk hot dogs, and thin crust pizza
Doing nothing
Sitting on the deck working on songs
Writing postcards to sweetheart
Yapping and talking and laughing away til late at night
Falling off skimboard
Running and walking
Skee-Ball and other fun arcade machines (DDR, I'm lookin' at you)
Recharging. Thinking. And being really, really thankful, all day every day, for the glories that have suddenly been shining into my life.
