Reminder - Fantasy NFL Draft Tonight! 9:30pm EDT We need 1 more team!→[More:]

Tip for fanatsy neophytes: draft running backs as early as possible.

Also, we now have 11 teams. It would be really nice if somebody would sign up for 12th spot, so that we don't have to deal with fantasy bye weeks. Please? Somebody?

That was just a pick league. Simple as can be and you have almost as good a chance of winning as someone who knows football.

Fantasy football is completely different. You're good. I'll post a reminder before the season starts to get your picks in.

Crap. I have a problem. There is no possible way for me to be present for the draft.

Will things turn out okay ,if I rank some players and don't show up, or am I out of it already?

Yeah, mosch, just be sure to pre-rank and you shouldn't be at too big a disadvantage come the season.

No answer to my question on the league page yet, so I'll post it here as well. sisterhavana may very well be the only person who knows the answer...

Do we start three defensive players, regardless of position? Are there rules on how many of each position (DE, LB, DB) we have to draft, or are they all lumped into a "defensive player" pool? Yahoo's "settings" page is kind of ambiguous.

I think it's just three generic defensive players. That's what I got out of it, anyway.

Oh, and the bench players? Hypothetically, you could draft 6 RBs, right, and put 4 of them on the bench?

That's how I read it too, pupps. I asked because I found it odd; most IDP setups I've seen start one IDP from each position.

And, yes, your bench can consist of any players you want.

I've played in yahoo leagues with a single IDP before and it was, indeed, a player from any def position. I assume we just have 3 of those now.

Actually, look at the defensive players they'll let you draft -- it's only the DBs. Bastards won't let me pick the DE I want.

Are you looking at pre-rank page, mp? Yeah, everybody is either a DB or a DL (linebackers are DL too). If you don't see the dude you want try "Sort Available Players By: [Name]" (and "Show: [Top 500] [D]").

Yes, it is three defensive players from any position. That's how most IDP leagues I've been in have done it, so that's how I set it up. : )

You can override your prerankings in the live draft. Like dano said, if you can't make the draft or if you come late, Yahoo will draft the highest available player from your list for you. (Although it might go in roster order so it could pick a QB first, then an RB and so on.)

What does everyone think of the settings for points etc? Does it seem fair?

The draft order has been set. I did it via random drawing (I wrote every team name on a slip of paper, folded it, and put it into my snowman candy jar. I drew each slip with my eyes closed so I couldn't try to figure out which slip had which team before I picked it) The order is as follows (This might help your planning):

1. Cabana Bunnies
2. Craptastic Oxymorons
3. Havana Zoob Turtles
4. Beltway Bunnyskins
5. Semi-lurkers
6. The Chiffarobe
7. wash heights punks
8. Stonecutters
9. Light Sweet Crude
10. Mad Wet Hens
11. Shake 'n Bake
12. The Drama Bums

Well, shoot - I haven't hung around much lately, because I've been too busy with my own fantasy draft (I am the commish, after all!) I came out rather nicely, I think, with two of the best receivers - Steve Smith and Marvin Harrison - as my first picks, knowing that I could snipe Willie Parker and Reuben Droughns as my RBs in the later rounds. Good luck to everyone in the MeCha league!
