I saw one of these at the local Univ. a couple years ago. It didn't smell nearly as bad as advertised, but it was still really cool.

Be sure to go at the exact right time, Pie. The smell dies off quickly. There are a few in L.A. and the last time one bloomed it was packed with people. I saw it a few days later when it wasn't stinky any more.

Speaking of cool tropical plants... the corpse lily.
