I've seen this exhibit before, but I've always found it really, really amazing and more than a little moving. (Moving because it makes these people from the distant past seem so real and immediate.)
It remains one of my favorite things ever on the web.
Recently, I took part in a focus group for a marketing firm. One of the questions they asked was, "If you could go anywhere in the world right this minute, where would you go?" I said, "Russia."
They laughed. Seriously. THEY LAUGHED. They thought I was messing with them. So I explained that I'd always been fascinated with Russian history and that I hadn't yet gotten the chance to check it out, so it was at the top of my list. They just kept laughing. Hmpf.
