BP Radio A short-ish set, starting now, with kind of a story behind it.
→[More:] I have this friend whom I've only known for about a year, but we've gotten to be really good friends. We've never talked about music, which is unusual for me (heh!), but then recently music did come up.
He's a cross-country truck driver, and has an XM-radio-enabled boom box that he carries on all of his long hauls. In the last month or two he's gotten very excited over the music of Jackson Browne, who he just heard for the first time on XM.
I have nothing against Jackson Browne, and my partner is actually a big fan from way back, but when I realized that he was just now catching up to what, 1976? I decided to make him a mix CD of some of my own personal favorites, which I just gave him tonight. (He also gave me a copy of "The Pretender," which I am liking a lot more than I thought I would, based on what I knew of Browne's music before.)
I picked these partially based on music that I've gotten my partner (who is around the same age as the friend) into over the years, and also leaning toward the crowd-pleaser kind of stuff; I didn't think starting an old-school country boy off with Aphex Twin or Fischerspooner was the way to go.
So anyway, this set is just the CD that I gave him- I enjoyed listening to it a lot over the past week before I gave it to him, and I thought, "Hey, I should play this as a set on Radio Mecha!" :)
