Deborah! Thanks you for the books! I got "The Lovely Bones" and "To Say Nothing of the Dog" yesterday, and I've already inhaled The Lovely Bones. So good. Now I'm reading Connie, which is delightful. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's been so hot the last couple of days, that I've mostly lain on the couch reading in front of the fan. Yay!

I mostly read nonfiction these days. A couple years ago, I was at a beach house with some friends, and people were passing around The Lovely Bones. I decided hey, why not read some fiction! I'm at the beach.

Thence followed a couple days of red-eyed, wrenching sobbing while lying on my beach towel in the sun. What was this book doing to me? Causing feelings? Ack! When you haven't read any fiction in a while, that's a pretty freaking tough place to start.

The Lovely Bones was such a good book although I found it extremely sad.

It's a wonderful book. If you liked it, you might also like "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd.

I've not read The lovely bones, but I would like to congratulate taz on a successful usage, in everyday conversation, of the word "lain" !

Huzzah! I'm glad you got them, I was beginning to worry. I've read both and would read them again and figured if I thought they were that good, you (since you had them on your list) would enjoy them as well.

Does that make sense?

Perfect sense! It usually takes a little while for them to get here... They come from the UK, via Germany or something, and then I get a notice from the post office that I have a package, so I also may miss the notice for a couple of days if I don't go out, or don't check the mailbox.

But it's so cool when I get a notice... Like Christmas!
