Adventures in Commuting →[More:]So yesterday I went to the train station to catch the 6:50 train home (I worked late) only to find out - the trains on my line (Metra BNSF) weren't running! Turns out there was a hazardous material spill from a freight train at about 4pm, on much of the tracks used by Metra (there's video on that site too). I ended up sharing a cab with 3 other people who needed to get to the Belmont train station - it cost us $25 each! Still, I was lucky compared to some. One of my friends was on the last train to leave Union Station before all the trains were shut down - she ended up being stuck on the train, just sitting, for about 3 hours!

The trains are still not running on a full schedule this morning. Needless to say today was an Orange Line day for me - I drove to Midway Airport and took the el in from there.
