amazing new Amnesty Intl ad campaign in European streets (suppposedly the copy says, "It's not happening here, but now" or something like that)
That's awesome. I wish they'd run them in the US. Imagine seeing that in NY? LA? Atlanta? Dallas?....

I wonder why they don't show in the U.S. A funding back-lash?

That's so fantastic.

I remember our high school chapter had materials with great suggestions, like staging a "disappearance" in the middle of the cafeteria during lunchtime to raise awareness. But our group was small and full of lame girly-nerds who just wanted to write letters for an hour and put it on their college apps.

Probably because Clear Channel owns much of the public advertising space in the country and is a major contributor to the GOP. War and associated civil rights abuses are profitable for media corporations like Clear Channel.

I had lunch with a Dutch fellow earlier today, and he got onto the subject not only of how controlled American media is, but how subtly it's done... such that the vast majority Americans have no clue what sorts of things they're missing.

This is a fantastic example of what he was talking about.

alex and taco agreed.

It's amazing to me, the obvious illusion that is shouted at us through the media. Friends ask astonished, "you don't read the paper or watch the news?! How do you know what's going on?" And I do tend to be better informed.

Gues ya just get a knack for filtering it all out and hearing a bell when the truth is spoken.

If the figures were underwater it would be okay with the American populace. Anything for a thrill, you know.
