Home-Made Voiceovers/Mashups/Mixes Using Audacity? [More:] Hey audiogeeks and technobrats! LT has recently discovered the wonder of Audacity MP3 Editing software and wants to know if any one here has used it to do homemade DJ stuff like mashups and voiceovers? How has your experience been? Any tips you can pass along my way?

I'm eager as hell to jump this thingy and make it do all manner of wondrous things for your delight and amusement in an upcoming set of mine.

I just click the record button and record away! Repeat seven or eight times until I don't sound like a complete moron. Then trim off the inevitable silence at the beginning and end (click-drag to highlight the silence, then push Del). I always have to turn the gain (the top slider to the left of your recording) up to about +21dB, but that may just be my crappy microphone.

Have you mixed your voiceovers with music, though, Mike? (I still owe you an ode btw).

I want to make groovy voice-overs with cool musica in the bkgd and stuff, like the big-timers do at the radio stations.

Oh, nope. Sorry. I'm really, REALLY dumb with audio.
