but my mind goes blank as far as picking bunny meat.
And they are dropping like flies. This site seems to promote marriage, mating and breeding.
It'll take me a couple of weeks to compile the applications and check references, though. Shall we say the 26th? And I think we should call Capn in for a man's opinion.
My sis (she lives in NC) makes sweet tea all the time. She says the trick is to make it in a pot instead of a kettle, and to use real sugar, and to put that sugar in the pot with the water, so that it boils along with it. No artificial sugar allowed, or honey - has to be refined white sugar.
Basically, you boil water and sugar in a pot, and then take the pot off the heat and right away add your tea bags, and steep for about 5 minutes, take out the bags, and then cool the pot in the fridge, and then transfer to a pitcher. Super sweet, and tastes like nothing else.
Man, every time I go to the Deep South (which, apparently, includes Baltimore), I forget that they sweeten the tea there. (Texas doesn't. At least, not by default.)
It's always a big ol' shock to take that first gulp. You're right, iconomy, it tastes like nothing else. Especially if you're not expecting it.
*drinks approximately one-half gallon of iced tea per day -- unsweetened, thankyouverymuch*
The way that I make sweet tea, you make a simple syrup first, with sugar, water and lemon rind. Then you strain the syrup and add it to the hot tea. The way I make it is with 5 bags of Orange Pekoe tea, two bags of Earl Gray and one bag of mint tea (to add to the refreshment). Add 7 cups of boiling (not boiled) water, let it steep for 8-10 minutes, then slowly mix in the lemon syrup. Delicious! I just made some last week.
Elizard, you're thinking of sun tea. Sun tea is also good.
And the 26th is fine, we should go to one of those patios near Bloor/Bathurst, it's a nice, central location. Want me to post it on MeTa? Or will you do the honors? Or is this a bunnies-only affair?
iconomy--But..but..that's what I do! Plus lemon. I use loose tea, and have used one with lavender and one with orange peel with good results. (I love Murchies tea) I used to grow bergamot mint, which made a wonderful addition. I had heard tell of one for which you steep it in the sun rather than boiling water, but I guess I could google that.
On preview: yes, sun tea. I can google it, unless the bunnies have good good recipes.
Do feel free to post it to MeTa--I don't post much on the mothership, so I wouldn't be recognized. I posted a bump here a few days ago, but most of us missed it, I'm guessing.
