Word of the day: Orchidectomy.[More:]
What a flowery word for such a painful subject.
In onomatopoetic news, removal of the ovaries may be referred to as an oopherectomy.

Isn't language fun!?

In fact, hysterectomy for removing all female inside parts (womb). Which is linked to hysteria. And to hysteric.

Isn't medical language (hysterically) chauvinistic?

I have performed way too many unintentional orchidectomies on dendrobiums and phalaenopses in my day -- so many that I no longer even buy them.

That's exactly why I don't try to propagate. As soon as I learned that I might inadvertently strangulate a glandula or stifle a staminode, I gave up on the idea. I could never take the stigma.
