25 May 2006

I leave for the hospital in two hours. [More:] My ovarian cyst removal is this evening. I'm a tiny bit nervous but mostly relieved that it's about to be over. Still, I think I could use some good vibes if you have any to spare. I'm probably not gonna die, right? Right. Right?
I had it done myself about 15 years ago. You'll do fine. Hugs!

Lots of good vibes!

You'll be fine, and we'll all be cheering for you and waiting to hear hospital stories when you get back.

It'll be fine. Avoid the lime jello.

chewatadistance, because of the size of the cyst my surgeon isn't sure whether he can remove it laparascopically or whether he needs to open me up completely. My cyst is quite large (15cm) but because of its structure he thinks a laparascopy is a possibilty. If he can do it that way I'll be home a few hours after and will only have to miss a week of work. If he has to cut me open then I'll probably be in the hospital for 3-4 days and out of work for four to six weeks. But he won't know until he gets in there and I won't know until I wake up.

occhiblu, it is a little frustrating. Everything is up in the air right now. Thankfully, the people I work for are being WONDERFUL about all this. I've already been told that my job is secure and to take all the time I need. They've been so great. I'm lucky.

My thoughts are with you, LeeJay, and I'm sure you'll be fine and fit in no time. I second what Occhiblu said.

Oh, I see. Well here's to something simple and a quick recovery either way.

Best of luck LeeJay. . .I am hoping it's the simpler procedure.

Hospital cauliflower is also quite gross, btw.

Anyone have the song to accompany these lyrics?

You'll be great LeeJay - take care and get gooder.

Best wishes, all around... I had a large fibroid removed about twelve years ago or so, with the full incision; it did hurt when I first woke up, but after a day or two, it wasn't too bad. When my mom had her cyst removed more recently, they gave her an epidural (before surgery), in addition to the general anaesthesia, and she woke up with no pain at all (at least for the first couple of days). I'm not a doctor or anything, but in case they have to do the bigger procedure, that epidural was a good thing. Again, all the best. The nerves before are the worst part, I think.
