Love that Powderfinger! I have a Brissie friend who sends me the CDs as soon as they are released.

Okay, asplain: What is Brissie? What is Bewdy and Bonza?

Are they children detectives?, as in Bewdy and Bonza and the Case of The Hanging Vine?

Are they detergents? as in, Bewdy will do ye on your counter stains! or:

Bonza! The Tougher Counter Cleaner!

I must know!

Brissie = Brisbane (Pronouced Bris-bun for you seppo wankers), also known as Brisvegas.

Bewdy = Beauty (not actually used as a noun)

Example:
Bruce 1: Did you see the shark that bit my leg off, Bruce?
Bruce 2: Yeah mate, she was a bewdy.

Bonza = No-one really knows. Essentially a synonym for Bewdy.

Example:
Bruce 1: Have you met my wife, mate?
Bruce 2: Yeah she's a bonza bird.

The Shorter English tells me "bonza" might be a contraction of "bonanza". This might have come from the gold fields (most likely introduced by Californian miners).

Personally, I like to think Adam Cartwright brought the term over when he emigrated.

"Seppo"? Well its an unusual kind of wig apparently. Or not. Actually, it's rhyming slang.
