Letters from Antarctica None of us have cameras, but trust me, we're thinking about you anyway...[More:]

TrishaLynn: It feels really good to be drinking with the crew again. I've decided that I'm dedicating my one shout-out of the evening to Baby Fenriq, who needs all the goodwill for arriving in this crazy world.

jonmc:Tenessee Sam, Divine Wino and gaspode were here too, and our bar buddy Roy. I've drank away all my angst at the job, but not my anger so I go outside and flip the bird at the building every half hour, But the juke is playing the Troggs "Any Way That You Want Me,' thanks to my main man Janus, woot.

Roy: Hi, I'm here in the bar, hangin with the people... Hi everybody!

Pips: Roy rocks! Two computer connossieurs next to us helped us log on here at the bar... And a big Bon Voyage to all y'all, as the boat pulls away from the pier (Gopher, you're my hero!). And, of course, a big ol' Mazel Tov to the new little fenriq...

Hugh Janus: Well, our bartender looks more than a bit like Noemi Lenoir, and I just threw Mötley Crüe's "Too Young to Fall in Love" on the juke, and the Guinness is replacing the blood, which is running high, and who wants a smoke? Jonmc, that's who! Excuse me, gotta do what bars are for.
And the New York Mets are beating the Philadelphia Phakers 10-3 Yeaaaaaaah Queens reprazent! I'm cut off!

Now it's 12-2. Let's go Mets!

Also, James Brown's 'Cold Sweat' is playing and the sexy barmaid brought me another Guinness. Life is OK.

Nobody panic, I made it home ok.

Confidential to the attendees:

I am actually pretty fond of Italians.

Guys, I either won or got second at bridge (we left before the final few scores were in). Fun times, but I wish I could have stayed at antarctica.

Hey, Divine_Wino, I apologize for calling you French.

It's another bartender I want to dandle. This one I want to have tea with in a hotel lobby.

My favorite memory of the evening is putting "Alligators All Around" on the jukebox and singing along.

And nice work on the bridge, gaspode. Awesome!

Just don't call me French Canadian and we won't have to get all internet toughguy on each other...

Hey, I'm the one-twelfth French Canadian around here! (Can't you tell by my giant melon?)

I'll strike you!

Now, leave or he will taunt you a second time.

I just had a phone run in with the biggest sourpuss French Canadian eco-zealot the other day, it did not leave me with a favorable impression of the folks. She had all the literalminded snippityness of the French and none of the generosity of spirit or sense of humor. But you know I dig you Hugh, pouteen in your veins or not.

I visited Quebec City with my folks when I was 17. After dinner they let us roam the city for awhile, and I wound up in some rock and roll/biker bar (bikers and skins are everywhere in that town). I slurped LaBatts while watching the usual suspects on the big video screen-AC/DC, Kiss, etc. But when native Canadians Triumph came on, the place went berserk cheering. The Nucks take good care of their mullet-rockers, yes they do.

Also, almost every woman I saw on the street was supermodel level gorgeous. Pips is part Canuck, too, BTW.

did y'all make it home OK?

I love Canadians, love 'em, in my secret heart I am one. This one French Canadian sent me on a mini-jihad is all.

Pips had her lappy and we were logging out/logging in. Until about... 9, and then we decided to walk to Chinatown and get food.

By oh.... let's say three or four in the morning, the Chinese food wasn't agreeing with me and it came out. I'll let you speculate as to which end it came out of.

And that's why I didn't go to work today.
