Uzumaki The Japanese comic books that inspired one of my favorite Japanese movies are being issued here in the United States.

This makes my weekend.
"Being issued"? They've been out for a while, and the English adaptations were nominated for an Eisner award in 2002.

Nobody messes with my manga-fu.

A plush, life-size Totoro!
At least, if you get the chance, go to the Totoro House and take some pics!

Ooooh, happy days! That was one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen. Couldn't look at clouds for days afterwards for fear of a swirly thing alert.

Though the big snails crawling over the school did make me laugh. I'm all over the comic.

Oh, and can I have a catbus?

Uzumaki was one of the most horrifying and absorbing comics I've ever read. Get all three volumes. Vol. 2 is a little weak, but it's necessary to appreciate Vol. 3, which is awesome.

Oooh, thanks kindly. Now to just get it over here.

Croctommy's jealous of my catbus that my friend Mizue brought me back from actual Japan. And I have a small Totoro that I bought at actual Powell's.

BoringPostcards, I've actually not seen the movie yet, I've only read the books, but I LOVED them. You will not be disappointed, (though TL is right they've been out for a while). Enjoy!!!

Beeps! - thanks for turning me onto this deal. I know jack about anime, Japan pop stuff, or any of that sort of thing. I mean, I've seen Metropolis and Spirited Away and Cowboy Bebop or whatever, but this is really cool and freaky shit.

Any of you other manga-haids want to enlighten me as to the other cool stuff, you know where to find me.

(and what's weirder still, is just Thursday I was at the same tat shop i got the bunny at pricing out a spiral design i want to do on my forearm, completely unawares....)

*shiver*
