I just went to the dentist for the first time in 8 years and I have no cavities!

I have been doing the no cavities dance all day and boring the hell out of my coworkers with this fantastic news.

small_ruminant, I share your joy. I had my first visit to the dentist in about 3 years the other day and had no problems other than brushing too hard.

There are two kinds of people when it comes to dentistry.

Some think that having cavities, not visiting the dentist, not having fake, so-white-they-look-blue, or perfectly straight and evenly sized teeth is like not having running water. A sign of third world status.

The other sort had parents who were shit scared of dentists and were only ever dragged to one when they had toothache (and hence drilling and, way too often, extractions - often unnecessary ones).

If you are in the first camp, you will find small-ruminant's joy baffling. If you are in the latter camp, you will share that joy.

I say, "good on ya, mate!".

I've just returned from a root-canal that gave the shivers even to the dentist. While sitting on that chair with the mouth more open than a cartoon, I recalled my childhood. Boy, I went to the dentist waaay too often. I am traumatized.

I have a dentist appointment tonight to have some more filler trowelled into my cavities - hopefully, after this visit, I will be able to eat icecream again. At my last visit, the dentist took a heap of photos of one of my caverns to show to his uni students. Ny teeth are so bad, you would think I was British. But they're getting better, yay!
