I don't really understand what's so special about Star Wars.
Probably nothing much, given the scope of entertainment available out there. But I have a soft spot for the first movie, now the 4th movie, because of how exciting it really was back in 1977. Those were the days when there was considerably less on tv than there is now, so the coming of a "big" movie meant a lot, and the excitement and the hype were huge -- even my mom went to see it, and my mom practically never went to the movies. It was billed as being different from anything else out there, and from my 13-year-old point of view, it was -- it was like a supersize version of Star Trek. I saw it 7 times that year. I still remember how COOL the jump into hyperspace looked.
Although I have to say that even back then nobody I knew thought Princess Leia's hair looked good that way. What were they thinkin'?
Episodes 4-6 (SO annoying to refer to them that way)are very very good movies.
1 and 2 are simply awful and 3 is not as bad but still a bad movie full of wooden performances and horrendous dialogue.
There was a lot of nonsense about 3 being better than 6 but it's just that- nonsense. "return of the jedi" is actually underrated, I think. The "muppets" thing has been repeated a lot, in "Clerks" and elsewhere, but who cares?? The ewoks are a little silly but it's a great film- the scene where the emporor tempts Luke while the space battle rages behind them alone is light years (ha ha, wrote that by accident) beyond anything in the three new ones.
"Trix"-brand breakfast cereal is referenced in the description of the constellation known as the Silly Rabbit. This does not establish its existence, but it does establish the existence of raspberries, oranges, and lemons.
