This is a 'your website sucks' thread [More:]So I submitted an application to the Canadian federal government's job site today, and for one of the positions I wanted to use a reference form someone who's living in the UK, but their text field won't accept phone numbers that aren't in the 10 number North American format. Maybe they should advertize for a new web programmer. Grr...

Add your 'why is your website so utterly stupid?' rants below.
Similar but different. I got a new cellphone, and SMS wasn't working, I could send them, but not receive them. I went to the provider's web site to see if there was any information or anything I could do there, and saw that there was a "manage your account" thing you could sign up for.

So I tried doing that, gave the web form my name, and phone number and suchlike and hit the "sign up" button.

And what did I get back? "We have sent an SMS with a confirmation number to your cellphone, when you get this message [...]"

Not everyone's first name is one word!

The Minneapolis Public Library's website sucks so badly and so thoroughly that I'm convinced it has to be some sort of unusability experiment. The navigation's ridiculous and unintuitive, the catalog search functions are creaky and poor, and they can't even decide for sure which fields you need to provide to log into the damned thing. It must die.

Hah, I have an apostrophe in my last name, which seems to generate errors that look eerily like when I used to try and 'finger' myself on an old Unix system.. Stupid, stupid, lazy programmers.. and _I_ can't find a job.

The reason I went to the web site first mike, and put up with those shenannigans, was precisley the fear of being put in "your call is important to us" oubliette.

I recently bought a Canada Savings Bond for my newly hatched nephew. The web-lication the bank person was using demanded the 2-week old's Social Insurance Number, or that "N/A" be entered in its stead. But it would not accept "N/A"

After trying many variations, it was discovered that the form was perfectly happy if the field was left blank.

"Wow, I'd love to pay my verizon wireless bill electronically but I'm going to have to hire rogue elements of the Department of Defense and find and sober up (princess bride steez) a mainframe programmer for the early '70s to do so."

The Americocentric obligatory zip/state fields have been a pain on a few occasions.
Narrowminded microcephalic dullards.
{I will deny any accusation of tautology!}

Exactly what I was going to say, peacay. Quite often the idiot form allows you to enter a country other than the US, but still demands that you include a "state", which infuriates me.

I hate that forms won't let me capitalize my name correctly. I have a capital in the middle of both names. (My mom wanted an apostrophe in the first, but my dad was able to talk her down.)

Whenever I enter my name: DeAnne, it comes back Deanne, which drives me nuts. I know it's a small thing, but it still makes me crazy.
