22 April 2006

Bad Mimosas I was going to clean. I was going to work. But a pitcher of mimosas at brunch thought otherwise. ::rubs eyes:: How's your Saturday going, MeChas?
i just broke open a beer.

some animal activist (a cocky lawyer and council-person) at a meeting last night insulted 1&1/2 years of work i and some others did on a deer issue, looking me straight in the eye and telling me "YOU ACCCOMPLISHED NOTHING, IT WAS ALL A WASTE OF TIME."

sure, we didn't save the 1,000 suburban deer that were "culled," but i never thought we would. it was about educating the public and long-term issues for me, although i sure as hell wanted to save the deer.

it wasn't so much what she said that bothered me, since what she said only showed she was clueless. it was the fact that one animal activist would do that to another. it was like witnessing a completely random act of violence. i felt sick to my stomach this morning. it was the most rude and obnoxious thing anyone has done to me (outside of traffic) since i was about 8 years old.

AND, speaking of traffic, some idiot almost caused an accident with me this morning, it was his fault, and he and his girlfriend yelled at me about it and flipped me off. i just love that. when a person is all, like, "GODDAMIT, YOU ASSHOLE! WATCH WHAT YOU'RE DOING! I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, YOU *&$%!! &$%#!!!

oh, and someone i barely know called me this morning and basically told me she really wants to have babies. with me, i guess. fucking hell.

like i said, i'm having a beer and writing off today.

My eyes have been killing me since last night, I guess it's allergies. I took out my contacts and remembered that my glasses (which I hardly ever wear) are the wrong prescription entirely. So today, the world is a blur.

I've been studying for finals all day, but the whole eyes hurting/wrong Rx thing isn't making that a very productive effort. That sure sucks, because there's a hell of a lot of pressure on me to do well this semester.

Tonight, I'm going out to dinner with someone who says he doesn't want to eat alone. Boy, I feel special.

Ahhhhhh, thank you, a good venting makes all the difference.

i should've said that too.

Ahhh, glad to help.

I'm going to a Broadway musical (The Drowsy Chaperone) tonight courtesy of a friend with connections. Then I'm gonna come home and do all the work I didn't do when I was passed out from too many mimosas.

I got up early, I went to Home Despot and spent 20 bucks on rocks, I went to Walmart to purchase cheap HBA and abandoned my shopping cart because a screaming child wasn't being attended to (no, not mein kinder). Note: this part was not a typical part of my routine. I came home, I ditzed around in my gardens, I had cheapass burritos for dinner - and now I'm drinking.

I did well to hold off so long. I could've started at 9 a.m. when I left WM.

I've got a nice homey dinner on. Salisbury steaks, macaroni and cheese, apple sauce, homemade bread to sop it all up with.

It could be worse.

glass of wine, watching sleepless in seattle. considering doing the web work...let's say later. ;)

when gf gets off of work I think we'll break into the mimosas as well.

pink, i envy you for being able to easily see a broadway show. I also envy you for having connections to see broadway shows.

I waited too long to have coffee and developed a nasty headache. Finally got my ass in gear, threw some towels in the wash and headed over to the coffee place with my new gadget. Struck up a conversation with a fellow gadget freak and ended up getting invited to join the crew who puts on the movies in park for some fun shenanigans. Now I'm trying to find the energy to go purchase camping supplies for Coachella next weekend. I really like my life.

I went to an AA meeting and a meal at a Chinese restaurant. I'm not a big fan of Chinese food, and within 10 minutes of getting home, I had an upset stomach.

But apart from that, the day has been ok.

Got up at 7:30 (very late for me). Noodled around in the basement workshop on the monochromatic LED blue illuminated Plexiglas moon for my sister.

Chatted on the phone with Dannius Maximus (known only to Seattle Mefites) about various soon-to-be-public scandals, burgeoning inter-elite conflicts in the Federal government and the current state of 9/11 conspiracy nonsense. Recieved some spiritual counseling from the Rev. Perry 10X Mills and made a date to visit him tomorrow for services.

Mowed the lawn until 1pm (because of my heart, mowing the lawn is a process of 15 minutes of mowing followed by 45 minutes of recuperation.)

Went to Old Town to see what was what. Toured the county on a 50-mile motorcycle shopping expedition ala T.E. Lawrence in The Mint. Went to the Lummi Nation for tax-free smokes. Stopped off at Paces fire sale and bought some gate hardware and some casters. Went to Michael's and bought some stained glass fragments for the Kaleidoscope projector stages.

Swung back to Old Town and got the word that the Minutemen are now showing up at Mexican-owned businesses in camo and harassing people. Suggested putting together a hot-line and flying squad to deal with these low-order domestic terrorists (the cops are fucking useless.) Came home and started making dinner and here I am.

Nice day for a motorcycle ride.

Today was Picnic Day, which I didn't realize until a group of drunken frat boys woke me up by hooting on the sidewalk at 9 AM. I'm not holding it against them, though, because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten to see and photograph the Frisbee Dogs.

(I passed on the exhibition of equine artificial insemination. I think some things should remain private.)

I always made fun of it, but Picnic Day is actually really cool.

Well - very few people have sent me text messages. I'm slightly disappointed,

seanyboy, I don't think a lot of cell phones in the US can send text messages overseas. I know I couldn't send them to or receive them from my best friend when she was living in Ireland.

Well, it's Sunday morning now, and irc is moving too fast for me...but I am listening to radio Eid...
Saturday was pretty much a wash, not enough pages processed. But maybe I'll get more done later today.
