If you can't find a couch to crash on, the Sixth Avenue Inn looks like a good deal for downtown. I checked independent reviews, and it seems decent.

I stayed at the Sixth Avenue Inn a few years ago, and half of the hotel was rented by pirates. Seriously. Decked out in pirate garb, in full character. Sadly, there were no busty wenches to ogle, and all of the men were, ah, less than desirable, but I still give it five stars for awesome.

I could probably pull off being a buccaneer. I loathe the Spaniards and love taking their bullion. And buccaneers get drunk, right? It's win-win.
