19 April 2006

The new manager of the department (where me and 17 of my colleagues have been laid off effective 6/30) has sent out emails scheduling everyone for half-hour 'chats' about 'how things are going.' WTF? I'm seriously considering wearing a party dress and propeller beanie to mine and doing all my chatting in pig latin. (although, truth be told, the t-shirt I'm wearing today would be effective as well.
What BS.

But on a totally unrelated note, I watched "The Making of Born to Run" last night. You were right! Incredible. What a sophisticated and amazing study of Bruce as a writer and composer. Blew me away.

(yeah, Max's story about Boom Carter's drum lick was great, huh? and the one about Miami Steve and the horns?)

Back on topic: yeah, the sheer shambolic cluelessness of corporate america never fails to amaze me.

2 more months, 2 more months

Starts ironing party dress... oiling propeller beanie.

Can it get any stranger?

Mojito later? : )

God, I hate businesses like that. My manager's 'let's catch up' meeting is when I decided to quit. What amazes me is that America supports corporate America. Yeah, I don't think I'd bother giving the new gal, or guy, any useful information, but I'm just perverse that way.

Sure, pips, It'll chase the Bloody Mary I had at lunch nicely. I had a nice chat with two oldsters, one a lady from Queens who does hairdressing for movies and the other a retired printer from the Bronx who recognized your high school and shuddered.

jon and pips, why are you talking to each other like this on a blog site? I'm confuzzled.

Have fun with the meeting jon - that's what I'd do (but not in any threatening or nasty way). I'd just let myself answer every question in a very laid-back, completely truthful way. WooFUN!

I shudder myself sometimes...

Some calamari would go nicely with our mojitos as well.

Hang in there. July acometh...

ROADTRIP!?!

Coz I'm here toting virtual barges and lifting simulated bales here at the data plantation, and she's at home enjoying her Spring Break from educating the future carjackers of America, and because we both dig your funky vibe fellow MeChas.

As for the meeting..I've met this chick who runs the department and she's this mousy thing without much gravitas. Quite frankly I can't figure out how she rose so quickly and I think she's a mite intimidated by some of us galley slaves, frankly.

Sorry, taz. Didn't mean to violate any protocols. I'm a little new to this...

and my main cubie Kevin has already booked for the day since he has accrued sick time and would rather be somewhere else. He's as bemused by this chat shit as I am.

(don't sweat it honey, taz was just teasing not scolding)

Ah... much relieved.

Mojitos all around! : )

No real protocols, pips (and jon)! But... you know... we don't want to use the site as email, right?
posted by taz 19 April | 13:04
I want a mojito!

And email is way overrated. It's always been my policy not to say anything online to anyone that I wouldn't want everyone to hear.

That might account for the embarrassing nickname and all the shit jokes.

And since I can't check my email at work, and I don't have a 'putro at home, I guess I do use the site as email. Maxima mea culpa, everyone. :«)»

Aw, Hugh, that's the lamest emoticon mustache and beard ever. I mean, if I hadn't been here to point it out, would anyone have gotten it?

Nope.
