Only losers quit. [More:]

Well, it's been four weeks of nicotine cessation for me.

I can kinda concentrate, most of the time, now.

Coughing up more coloured stuff than when I was actively smoking. My olfactory keeness is increasing - sometimes to detrimental result (public transportation is smellier than I've accepted).

Been having a lot of dreams about smoking cigarettes, but the cravings in the mornings aren't too bad. Still, there are the stupid triggers (on the walk from 41st to 28th Avenue to work, leaving the lab, waking up, finishing a meal, &c).

Did "not" spend $150 on smokes this month, though. (Yes, I already spent it on something else and no, I'm not going to say what it was.)

Not entirely sure this "quite smoking" things is worth it. Damn I miss those fuckers.

How're you other quitters doing?
I'm a winner!

I'm kind of a loser.

I keep giving myself deadlines that I half-heartedly stick to, but have been making lifestyle changes that make it easier to avoid cigarettes.

It's not too bad: I have four or so about three times a week. It's still too much.

I'm feeling pretty optimistic about the summer though: I quit my pool league (no more smoky pool halls) and will be singing/performing more (not being able to cleanly hit high C anymore is paining me).

All this talk of quitting made me start again after four fucking years. I BLAME ALL OF YOU.

(Because personal responsibility is for twunts.)

Congratulations, porpoise!

By the way, can you walk down a parallel street for a while? It's so much easier when you just avoid the trigger situations.

You won't miss the cigs like this for much longer. Give yourself a chance to really start feeling good.

Can I join in? Is it ok if I'm quitting something else?

God it's hard sometimes. Recently it's been better, cravings-wise, and I'm generally feeling less mentally down. But God, I've been such a bitch recently. WTF do the rest of you do to de-stress when you just CAN'T GET AWAY FROM PEOPLE???

PinkStainless - aw man, now I'm the hook for your health insurance and deborah's psych bills?

Thanks Miko.

Have you tried masturbating furiously, muddgirl? At the least it'll make people go away...

Depends on where you live.

Yeah, I guess that could get you phone-cammed.

That's funny, I have a surprising true story from my younger, wilder, and freer days:

I was in a public restroom in Tokyo, in a big train station that might have been out on one of the private lines crossing through Shibuya station; anyway, Southwest Tokyo.

There was this dude using the urinal at the end of the row, who was standing there half facing me, pants around his ankles, face red as a beet, jacking off, but it didn't seem for pleasure. It was like he was trying to exhibit obnoxious behavior that would clear the bathroom or get him arrested. A businessman came in, saw him, and left.

I looked him right in the eye, worked up some wood of my own, and whipped it out, smug and superior.

He emitted a crestfallen whine, tucked himself back in, and slunk out of the bathroom.

I quit smoking three days later, and I could feel my lungs turn pink again just in time to start back up after about two months.

Being a loser is underrated. I'm so glad that when I came into this thread you hadn't "backslid" let's say. I mean, it's your body and your life on the one hand, but on the other hand, as a MetaChat member, you belong to the Collective.

I quit three years ago. Still crave 'em... never smoke 'em.

Been two years now and I still get wild cravings a lot of the time. I seem to have come up with a workable compromise, though - I only smoke when I am away from town on business, giving me a 2-3 day fix every two months or so. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
