A lot of "hair metal" solos were actually really good though. CC DeVille was always good. And I dont know the name of the guy from Skid Row, but he kicked serious ass. And of course, there was Slash.

And, for better or worse, guitars were an intrinsic part of the music- it fit. Whereas the rapper thing is more like an attempt to buy credibility by association usually.
