Here's the Rapid, Cleveland's light rail public transportation system. I used to take this to work every day. Also pictured is the Rapid station near where I live. There's a diner there where I have eaten only once, because I prefer not to have ants crawling on the table when I dine. ≡ Click to see image ≡ ≡ Click to see image ≡
I, sadly, don't have any pictures of my rides, of the shoe-kind, or auto, etc. I did scour google for a sort of accurate shot of what is MY car, even if I let mrs. richat drive it while I use the lame minivan for toting children around. Here is is:
The story of my commute:
First I drive to the Jewel Park and Ride. (not my car in the pic, but same make, model and color!)
I catch one of these to the Lisle Train Station. I take the Metra BNSF train to Union Station in Chicago. From there, I catch a CTA Bus to my building (which you can see in that picture!)
Occasionally I'll drive to the CTA Orange Line stop at Midway Airport and take that to work.

The bus is for going to work. I ain't paying for parking downtown. Actually, I usually ride the 15, but the 14 also gets me home.

This is really perfect timing, because here is my car, that got FUCKING BROKEN INTO LAST NIGHT WHILE I WAS AT THE BAR and as a result I'm having a perfectly annoying Friday talking to cops and trying to get the goddamn bank to put some kind of fraud alert on my account in case the assholes who went through the car took a deposit slip or something. I am so pissed off. Oh and here's a larger version of the back of the car in case you want to read the stickers bigger. The yellow ribbon one says Question War and the two little ones on the right side say Yes Asheville There Is An Art Museum and Celebrate The Walters Hackerman House Museum of Asian Art respectively.

I sold the red and white that I am not sitting on, but the red and orange is downstairs and a still a happy camper (waiting for spring cleaning mind you). It took me ten years of tinkering before the red and white would run. Mainly because studies abroad kept interrupting me mid-project. Oh, and some advice, never ever take the piston out unless you have special tools to get the fucker back in.
Yesss mygothlaundry! They are cute little buggers!
Dumb ad trivia/ when that car was sold in the states a commercial showed it driving through a white desert with the usual voiceover raving about how sleek that little sports car was. Then it heads toward one of those sheets of paper that cars traditionally drive through with pazazz in old ads, except this car doesn't. It's gets stuck. and the voiceover ends all of his compliments with: "...it's just not the most powerful sports car." (or words to that effect).
I've been trying to track that ad down for ages./Dumb ad trivia
I wish I had photos of the heaps I used to drive. They were disposable. I'd just take the plates off and leave them for the cops to tow whenever something expensive went wrong. One car I drove for nine months had no reverse gear. One had lights connected to a toggle switch on the outside of the it, so I'd have to pull over and get out when I was driving and it got dark. And that was the BEST car, a Toyota with a half-totalled body, and a junkyard car-crusher couldn't have killed it--I wish I still had my Toyota today. Good mileage too!
Shit. I have had 0 time to take pics. So here are some old ones of my primary mode.
If I remember, I'll get you pics of my F-150, my GoldWing (formerly my dad's), and my bicycle. I have more shoes than any man should, so I'll spare you that.
