Your favorite works of art. Post them here, please.
matteo, is this Michelangelo's Pieta? If so, why do you like it? This goes for the rest of the people. I mean it is not obvious what your reasons are. I cannot just single out one painting/sculpture etc I like the most.
This is probably my most favorite art that I own. Its my wedding day captured in oil by a good friend who's a talented artist.
I've always loved Escher and considered getting one of the little guys from his Reptiles tattooed on me. I didn't but its about the only thing I would get inked.
I like Rosenquist's F-111 because the first time I saw it, it took up the entire wall outside the basement gallery of the Hirshhorn museum in DC. It was big, and bright, and it had a jet airplane and spaghetti in it, and I was around ten years old.
I have other favorites, but F-111 one makes a nice addition to the thread (most of my other additions today have been obnoxious, mean, or offensive).
All of these paintings are based on da Vinci's vision (point of view: Mary holding upright the dead body which is facing in front). Different media, different techniques, different times, but the same point of view. Note that this point of view is contrary to most ecclesiastical depictions: Christ lying in front of Mary. Pietas, because of the very expressive and sensitive theme, have been particularly popular among artists of all movements.
For me, Art is nothing without the context and the conjectures, so although I love your posts here, I feel that you need to tell me why you like them...

Duchamp's The Bride Stripped Bare... 'S better in person and with context.

Bo Bartlett's Dreamland is one I've recently grown entranced with. An older painting that was used as the cover art for The Thin Place.
Like eth, I'd probably throw a Di Chirico up here, but I can't think of a specific one. Maybe Mystery of City Streets?
