arse_hat, that is a great song and brings back a memory. When I was around 16 years old, a friend and I hitched to London to see Boz Scaggs in concert (at the Rainbow in Finsbury Park). We had nowhere to stay, had planned to spend the night hanging out at one of the railway stations (when you're 16, things like that seem like a good idea).

After the show we hung around outside the stage door and got talking to one of the limo drivers (I'd never seen a limo before, this was the 70s and I lived in a dull provincial city).

He snuck us inside the theatre where there was a party going on because one of the band had married one of the backing singers earlier that day. We signed the card that was passed round for them.

The limo guy was sooo kind, he loaded us up into his car along with a few of the band and Boz, dropped them at their hotel and took us back to his house in SE London where his wife made us up beds in the living room. Next day he gave us a limo tour of London. I remember particularly the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.

Random acts of kindness from strangers are often unforgettable.

essexjan, that is so much like 1979 when my friend and I hitched to Toronto to see the Police. We ended-up camping for a week next to the yaught club, on the island, courtesy of a sweet older women from the travelers aid.

The Maple Leafs were playing on TV and Stan and I were the only ones in the bar other than record company execs. We all rocked for a while then watched the hockey game. The three of them from the Police are good men.

The next day at lunch Sting played piano at the lobby bar at the Royal York until a waitress told him that guests were not aloud to play the piano.
