.htaccess help? I'm not very Apache-savvy and—embarassed, here—I'm on a hella tight schedule.[More:]

Most importantly—and easiest—I need to block hotlinking to three images (call 'em untitled1.png, untitled2.png, and untitled3.png). I could probably figure this one out myself without much trouble, but there may be a way to tie it in to the next problem:

I also need to block external referrers to three HTML files (untitled[1..3].html): links from within the domain must resolve just fine; links from without must resolve to the directory's index.html.

It's all hopelessly roundabout and goofy (I've even tricks to prevent right-clicking to save on the aforementioned images); it's for a very large-scale April Fool's prank and we're hoping the apparent paranoia will add versimilitude. (It should also prevent easy spoiling of the joke.)

I feel stupid for asking for something so easily Googleable, but all the tutorials I've found are either impenetrable unless you're already an expert, or too simple to cover anything this labyrinthine. If anyone here knows a trick off the top of his or her head I would be eternally grateful. I will pay in mp3s and cat pictures!
Try this. I haven't tried html files but I assume you can add the extension to 'RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg|js|css)'

Also, the prevent right-click thing is very ineffective because you can disable javascript in your browser and get around it.

That looks almost perfect, p&c, thanks so much!

I'm not using Javascript, actually; I know how easily one can get around that. I'm using the iMDB method of making the important image a table background and overlaying with <img src="transparent.gif" />; that'll block Save Image As... as well as Copy Image and so forth.

It's not foolproof, I know. Nothing is. But it'll limit most people who'd steal the joke to spread out of context, and—as I said—it looks all the more realistic if we're trying to keep these "under wraps."

Thanks again for the link. :D

that imdb method is usually enough to stop me from bothering with it so it's pretty good. It takes some digging to get around that.

Also, good luck. :)
